Just two kilometers below Sitlakhet there is the village ‘Khoont’ which is the ancestral village of the late Pandit Govind Ballabh Pant, the first chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and the famous freedom fighter of India.
It is a stunning view at the height of 2000 meters or may be more in Syahi Devi hills to treat your senses with great Himalayas in front of you. From only 10 kilometers away from Sitlakhet, there is a famous temple of Syahi Devi, which is now another attraction to the tourists. Syahi Devi temple is a beautiful religious attraction visited regularly by many local devotees.
Sitlakhet is a prime picnic spot with full of lush orchards, spectacular sceneries, bracing cool breeze situated between Almora and Ranikhet. Tourists coming from Delhi, Gurgaon and Noida shall reach Delhi by taxi or car and starting from Nizamuddin Bridge near Pragati Maidan, you have to go straight on to Gazipur continuing in NH-24, go straight through Hapur bypass to Garh Mukteshwar and then to rampur on the same road, turn left from Rampur for Bilaspur, go straight through Rudrapur to Haldwani and then to Kathgodam, go straight 4 kilometers ahead is Ranibagh, then turn right on state highway for Bhowali crossing Bhimtal, continue the same highway for Khairna bridge and later to Kakri ghat, take a left from Kakri Ghat and you will find a straight local road to Sitlakhet 10 kilometers away. Alternately one can reach Sitlakhet via Almora or Ranikhet also.
The nearest railway station is located in Kathgodam. 5013 Ranikhet Express (Night) departs from Delhi railway station. And some other trains are also there, that you have to watch out. Reaching railway station is not a problem now days due to availability of taxi or cars outside the station.
